Focus on What Can Change

Build practical solutions by recognizing your strengths and existing resources

Solution-Focused Therapy is a goal-oriented approach that places less emphasis on analyzing every aspect of a problem and more emphasis on identifying what is already working. Together, you and Andrew can clarify the changes you would like to see and explore practical steps that may help you move toward them.

This approach recognizes that even during difficult periods, people often have strengths, skills, and moments of progress that can provide a foundation for change. Solution-Focused Therapy may be helpful when you are feeling stuck, navigating a transition, or looking for clear and achievable ways to move forward.

How is this approach different from other forms of therapy?

Unlike certain traditional therapies that focus on past origins of problems, Solution-Focused Therapy focuses on the 'present' and 'future', helping clients envision a preferred future and identify actionable steps to achieve it.  While past experiences may still be discussed, the focus remains on goals and strengths to move the client towards a future they will find satisfying and fulfilling.

What happens during a session?

Sessions often explore what you would like to be different, times when the problem has felt more manageable, and the personal strengths or resources that may help you create change.

What can Solution-Focused Therapy help with?

This approach may support people experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, workplace concerns, low confidence, or challenges that feel difficult to resolve.

Is this always a short-term approach?

It is often used as a brief form of therapy, but the number of sessions depends on your circumstances, goals, and progress. Andrew can also integrate it with other therapeutic approaches when appropriate.

When Should Couples Consider Counselling?

Many couples wait until their relationship is under significant strain before considering counselling.
